I really love photography. And if there’s something I love as much, its food. I dig everything edible. I love all about it. Food is what makes us. Its what brings us together. Its a huge part of everyone’s culture.

Its so complex yet so simple. Its amazing how you can turn something really basic into a myriad of colors, tastes, odors and textures with just the right amount of skills and ingredients. Its something truly magical.

To me, the biggest challenge in food photography is to keep all these elements within the frame. I want the pictures to look organic, live and vivid. I want them to taste good. This is why I want to tackle the genre with a more serious approach.

I don’t know how all of this is will turn out. Maybe I won’t even be able to hold out on eating the whole set when taking my shots. Yesterday, I just couldn’t stop drooling over that piece of cake during the 15 minutes it took me to set up something decent and get the shot I wanted. No need to say it took me around 5 seconds after that to clean up the whole plate.

But I guess this is another challenge of food photography

No need to says that the viewing of this video left me in an absolute state of amazement. I, for one, am really inspired by architecture in general. This video just left me wanting more and more. It just makes me want to grab my camera and shoot. Shoot buildings, shoot anything related to architecture, furnitures, etc… No need to says I’ve added this video in my favs, and I will surely be watching it more than one time. Its just THAT amazing. You all should consider checking this one out.

I am a 21 years old male currently living in Quebec City (Quebec, Canada).

Stating here that I love photography would be pretty obvious as it is the main reason I’ve started this blog. How I got to love (and do) photography, though, is a different thing. For some people, everything goes back to when they held a camera in their hands for the first time, and heard the magical snap of the shutter release.

For me, it has been an inner passion for more than a decade. See, i never really did photography or openly talked about it to family and friends. It is something I knew was inside of me, but chose to keep it to myself rather than sharing it…until now.

In 2007, I had the chance to take a black and white photography class in college. This was my first shot at “real” photography. And this is where everything kicked off. I knew I wanted my own camera. Not because I wanted to make it a career. But because I HAD to do photography.

In October 2009, I acquired my very first camera. A Nikon D90 with a 18-105 kit lens. I still don’t plan on making a career out of it. But I do plan on building my lifestyle around the craft. In less than 3 months, this passion has quickly grown into an obsession. And for the best.

This blog is about me. It is about photography. But it is also about who I am, where I come from and what I love.

I am not an artist. I am just an enthusiast driven by his love for an inspiring and wonderful craft.

So here I am, sitting in my basement. Browsing through my feeds looking for inspiration and whatnot. This ain’t the first time I’m trying to start a blog. Blogs are always fun to start. Ideas running through your head, things in need to be shared with the masses, and the list goes on. But, unfortunately, with me, this need of sharing always wash away with time.

One thing that turned me away on my first few attempts is the fact that I’m not a writer. Let’s face it. I have zero talent whatsoever when it comes to writing. I seem like never being able to make my mind on what to say or how to say it.

In fact, I’m not a singer either. The few times i gave a shot at singing were something like a mix of a train wreck and a plane crash. It should be illegal to allow me to sing in public, heck, I should even be banned from singing under my shower. I am not a producer. Beats, rhythm and I don’t really go along together. Nor am I a poet, a painter, an handyman. The list of what I ain’t could go on and on.

But who am I really? I do photography, but I’m far from considering myself a photograph. I have an absolute passion for cooking. But I’m not considering myself a chef.  I am a passionate, this is what I am…

I’ll stop here. I think I’ve said enough for this first entry. I want to keep some subject matter for the next ones. Plus I really have to run.

I wanted this first post to be about the challenges of a maintaining a blog. And here I am ending up talking about myself. But I think I’ve found the true challenge behind blogging.

The true challenge of a blog is, well, to make it through the first up.
